Ride the Giant Horse Shrine Quest - Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Walkthrough

This is a guide on how to complete the Ride The Giant Horse Shrine Quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Completing the shrine quest will unlock the Ishokin Shrine.

Locating the Shrine

You'll find Ishokin Shrine located in the south of Faron Grasslands, near where the map ends. You won't see the usual shrine glow as the shrine is missing its crystal.

Once located, run up to activate the shrine. This will activate a green laser from the shrine, leading to the shrine's crystal which is thankfully not too far away.

Follow the laser up the hill until you stumble upon a researcher. Unfortunately, he's not going to let you walk off with the crystal. However, "from one horse-lover to another", if you can bring him a gigantic horse he may be willing to part with the crystal. This begins the Ride the Giant Horse shrine quest.

Tracking Down the Gigantic Horse

The researcher leaves you with a clue to go and ask around at the nearby stable for rumours of the gigantic horse.

After arriving at Highland Stable, speak to the stablemaster and quit out once you get to the menu. The stablemaster will finish the conversation about a pair of travellers that told him about a rumoured "giant white stallion". Continuing that if you'd like to chase after them, they took the road leading to the Lake of the Horse God to the southeast of the stable.

Open the map and find the Horse God Lake nearby. If you can't see the label for it, you'll need to zoom in a bit. It's not far from the stable so it shouldn't be difficult to locate.

Head over to the lake and follow the road leading through it. You'll make it to the Horse God Bridge where you'll find two travellers by a campfire.

These travellers will be discussing the giant white stallion alongside a horse god. We're only interested in the giant white stallion here, and if you enquire further they'll inform you that there's a highly notable horse further along in the valley.

Heading up, you'll come across a dead-end and if you glance down further. You will see the rumoured giant white stallion.

Taming the White Stallion

Kit yourself in anything that gives you a sneak advantage, and if you don't have a full stamina wheel. You should have 2 full wheels to be comfortable. But be prepared to give yourself a stamina boost, or tackle a few shrines and come back if you need more.

Sneak up to the horse and spam the left shoulder button to calm the horse. Then once the stallion is calm, you have two options.

1) Head back to the stable and register it, before proceeding to 2)
2) Head back to the horse-loving researcher near Ishokin shrine.

If you choose to register the horse, you'll get some flavour text to go with it.

Finally, make your way with the horse all the way back to the researcher near Ishokin shrine. After freaking him out a little, he gives up the crystal to your custody.

Take the crystal down to the shrine to complete the shrine quest. There are a couple of Zonai devices nearby to help move the crystal quicker (and more fun). Or walk. Nobody's going to judge.

Fixing the crystal onto a make-shift sledge

In the shrine, you will take on Rauru's Blessing (no puzzle, sorry) and be rewarded with a topaz.

After all is done you will have the shrine down, and a new giant white stallion who can join you on the rest of your adventure!
